Thee Oh Sees - "Enemy Destruct"

Zombie-rockabilly in the key of thrash. A lot of bands mine the 1960's garage/psychedelia/pop sound these days, but few own that confluence so convincingly. From their 09' release Help on In The Red records.
Tues:
Bill Callahan - "Jim Cain"
In a perfect world, Bill Callahan would sooth me asleep each night with a bedtime story. The man's arresting, deep, and knowing voice can make even the most basic of words seem utterly prophetic. Unfortunately for me, this is not that perfect world--although I'm nearly as content to listen to Callahan's outstanding new record, Sometimes I Wish I Were An Eagle.Wed:
Is Tac-town the new PDX? You be the judge, my friend.
From Sing Something, the band's recently self-released album and one I'm definitely on the hunt for.
Thur:
Axel Willner's throbbing ambient-techno might seem a lot less interesting minus the knowledge that the majority of his hypnotic songs are built by looping minuscule bursts of samples (sometimes all from the same original 15 second song clip). The Swedish producer's latest album, Yesterday and Today, is available on Anti.
Fri:
Big Star - "The Ballad of El Goodo"
After satisfying a need to re-listen to Beulah's entire back catalog while at work last week, some musical archaeology led me to this power-pop throwback. Big Star's loud influence still far exceeds their name recognition, but the band's myth keeps growing through chance introductions like mine. Wilco, R.E.M, and Beulah are just a few of the countless band's that openly worship these guys. The above track comes from their 1972 debut #1 Record.
Sat:
Some fleeting, psychedelic-pop ebullience from Portland band-on-the-rise Dykeritz. This track comes from the 2009 PDX Pop Now! comp, out now in anticipation of the (FREE!!) three day festival taking place July 24-26.
